Arpello is the prince of Pellia. He claims to have royal blood in the royal line of Aquilonia, and when Conan was believed dead after being tricked to come to Koth to protect against Ophir, Arpello was announced as the new king by the council of Aquilonia, after being pressured by the masses of people who thought Arpello was in fact part royalty. The only chancellor who had dared to oppose Arpello being the new king, Chancellor Publius was thrown in jail, and when the council saw what kind of king Arpello was they barred themselves in the royal palace. Arpello took Publius' palace instead. Conan, having obtained a bird to fly him to the city through the wizard Pelias, landed on top of the palace and threw Arpello down from the roof, killing him.
