Erlik

Erlik, also known as The Flame Lord, is a god of northern Hyrkania. Long ago, a prophet known as Tarim brought Erlik's wisdom to a tribe of Hyrkanian raiders who, with the strength of their religious fervor, traveled west and founded the Turanian Empire. Erlik is a harsh god who believes in tempering the soul through trial and deprivation. His followers are against fallacious acts such as fornicication, usury, and the consumption of alcohol. However, many of Erlik's priest ignore his teachings.

The Hyrkanian god Erlik is a figure shrouded in mystery and legend. Although he's the supreme deity of the Hyrkanians and their younger kin, the Turanians, very little is known about Erlik. According to Hyrkanian legend, Erlik was once the first man on earth. However, he was never given a soul by his creator. When Erlik tried creating life by himself, he was banished into the depths of the earth. As ruler of the underworld, Erlik claims the dead ("those who lack breath") as his own subjects.

Erlik is also known under his title as God of the Yellow Hand of Death.

Erlik was once a minor deity until the arrival of Tarim. Tarim discovered Erlik's knowledge while exploring an isolated region known as Pathenia. Erlik's avatar is Living Tarim. The avatar appears as a human whose face and appearance is concealed under a hooded robe. It's said Living Tarim sits on a throne inside the inner sanctum of Erlik's golden temple in Aghrapur.

Idols of Living Tarim depict him as a one-armed man.

Clerics of Erlik (and Living Tarim) who follow the strict codes in the Revelations of Tarim are able to master terrible necromancy. Among their powers is the ability to sink into the earth and command the undead. The priests of Erlik must always be male.
